Teaching Purpose (Einstein!)

We’re all teachers.

Someone is watching you, modeling after you. If you’re a parent, you have seen this for better or for worse. We try to say “Don’t do what I do, do what I say!” but of course that just. doesn’t. work.  We wish! If only kids would ignore what we tell them to ignore and act on what we tell them to do… ugh. It’s a hopeless cause!
I came across a quote by Albert Einstein today that marvelously captures our aim here at Iguana Art Academy:

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”

-Albert Einstein

Obviously, Mr. Einstein gave thought to more than just physics. He has some pretty insightfulful things to say on a number of topics. This is the first quote I’ve come across on the purpose of teaching, and I am SO encouraged! For any good teacher wants to make an impact on the status quo that yields dividends of joy, smiles, excitement for life and creation, and hope for the continued expansion of ideas and discoveries.

And that’s exactly what we aim to do here at Iguana. I believe we make the world- your world- a better place when you incorporate the create-equation into your life:

Iguana’s Theory of Creativity: YOU + CREATE = :)

You show up to learn > you observe > you think > you respond > you create > you discover > you solve  and arrange > you grow in knowledge > you create > you smile : )

May we help you awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge in you!
